To deploy the IDrive BMR backup agent,

  • 1Download the MSI package on your computer.
  • 2Copy the MSI package to a network shared folder.
  • 3Set up for mass deployment using Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy.

Linux-based Recovery Media (ready to use)

Download a Linux-based pre-built recovery environment to boot up a Linux computer on which bare-metal restore needs to be initiated.

We recommend that you create a WinRE based recovery media using the WinRE media builder application. You can use Linux-based recovery only if you don't have ready access to an alternate computer from where you can build the WinRE-based recovery media.

IDrive BMR supports backup from only NTFS formatted volumes

Disk Partition Style:

MBR, GPT

Note:
  1. You can backup dynamic or logical volumes in MBR disk. However, Bare-Metal Restore of these volumes is not supported. You can still recover data from these backed up volumes by using the 'File Restore' option. Refer steps to recover backed up data using file restore option.
  2. The CBT feature is not supported for certain older operating systems such as Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, and the 32-bit version of both Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008R2.
